Naefa Khan

Naefa Kahn holds a BALLB and a masters degree in International Relations from the University of Cape Town. She also completed a short course on Justice, Human Rights and Peace at the University for Peace in Addis Ababa. She was a lecturer in the International Relations department at the University of Witwatersrand where she lectured on International Human Rights Law. She has worked in the field of human rights for over 20 years with a focus on Africa. Her past works have included research and writing on The International Criminal Court and the African Union, land reform in South Africa, the interplay between human rights and conflict resolution in Ghana and Islamic Law in Africa. Since 2015 she has practiced as an advocate at the Cape Bar with a focus on Public Interest Law. She continues to teach, write and present on the decolonisation of International Relations theories and law in the context of political violence and socio-economic inequality for the University of Witwatersrand. She is a member of the South African Coalition for Transitional Justice.
