Born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1984, Fabienne Steiner moved to Switzerland at the age of 13. After studying visual communications, she worked as a graphic designer for several years. In 2016, she started a Bachelor’s degree in film at the Zurich University of the Arts, where she worked on many fictional and documentary films as a director, co-director and cinematographer. In 2025, she completed her Master’s degree in Documentary Filmmaking at the Zurich University of the Arts. Today, Fabienne is an assistant in the camera department at the Zurich University of the Arts. She is working as a cinematographer on several projects, as well as developing her next feature film.
