6SENSE is the self-narrated story of Mxshi Mo, a visually impaired man from Pietermaritzburg, whose childhood was excluded from his peers’ social activities. At the same time, a new musical wave of electronic dance music called gqom was elevating South African music internationally. The film documents how Mxshi overcomes the disadvantages of their visual impairment by learning creative ways to use music production software and DJ equipment to create songs that reverberate internationally. The documentary also emphatically portrays the exclusion faced by South Africans with disability, encouraging more accessible ways for their inclusion into important social and cultural activities.
