Death of a Saint 13 L
More than three decades after having lost her mother to a brutal crime in Uganda, director Patricia returns to her native country, Uganda, to confront her dark past in a deeply personal quest for truth and inner peace.
On Christmas Eve of 1989, a woman was shot and killed by two intruders in her family home in Uganda. Nearly three decades later, her daughter Patricia Bbaale Bandak, returns to her birthplace in an attempt to heal the trauma that has followed her throughout her life. Patricia, now a mother herself, reflects on how the loss of her mother shaped her identity and experiences of raising her daughter. Through intimate conversations with her family members and friends of her mother, as well as a combination of camera footage and personal archive that echo the timelessness of grief, the documentary pieces together the events of that fateful night. Death of a Saint is a revealing, sincere and personal story, reconciling the weight of memory with the pain of death, injustice, and the passing of time.
