Dr Ala Alhourani is a senior lecturer in the Department for Study of Religions at the University of Cape Town. His research interests are Islam in Africa, political secularism, Sufism, ethics, art and aesthetics, His research foregrounds aesthetic experiences of religion as embodied, knowledge, power, and traditions.
