Stha Yeni

Stha is an independent researcher and has worked for many years in civil society on land and agrarian justice in Southern Africa. Her research interests include the meanings of land and notions of belonging, rural livelihoods, environmental justice and nature conservation. She has recently completed a PhD in Land and Agrarian Studies at the University of the Western Cape. She has published on land and social reproduction, feminist popular education, land rights violations, resistance from below, and the meanings of land.  She was a lead researcher and narrator in This Land, a documentary highlighting land rights violations by chiefs and mining companies and the villagers’ resistance in South Africa.
