Dreams of a Revolution
Sonhos de uma Revoluรงรฃo
Along the haunted road to Inhaminga, the echoes of past revolutions linger, as a search for meaning uncovers only timeless words and restless ghosts.
Nearly fifty years after Portugal’s 1974 Carnation Revolution, a peaceful military coup against an authoritarian regime which catalysed Mozambique’s path to independence and decolonisation, Dreams of a Revolution explores the enduring legacies of colonialism and the complexities of liberation. Through poetic narration, archival footage, and personal reflections, the film offers a meditative journey through memory and resistance, presenting independence as an ongoing process shaped by the lingering effects of violence and inequality. As it traces Mozambique’s transformation, the short honours the courage and resilience of those who fought for equality, while acknowledging the legacy of struggle that remains unresolved. Dreams of a Revolution stands as both a celebration and a reckoning, paying tribute to the revolutionary spirit, while insisting on the continued pursuit of justice, dignity and independence for all men.
