Nikki Comninos has been in the industry for 19 years as an editor and more recently as a director. Her most recent directing work can be found on Showmax – Tracking Thabo Bester and Convict Conman. She has worked in genres ranging but has a specialisation in documentary. Many of the projects she has worked on as editor have been awarded local and international prizes. She has also been personally awarded two South African Film and Television Awards for editing (one in documentary, 2011 and one in drama, 2015) as well as a third nomination for documentary short editing in 2016. In 2014 she was awarded the South African Editors Guild (S.A.G.E.) acronym for distinguished editors. To add to her professional experience, she has a strong academic background giving her a critical thinking approach to her work. In 2015 she completed her Ph.D. focusing on home video, personal history and memory. She has worked at various academic institutions across South Africa.
