Jaamiah Galant

Jaamia Galant is an Institutional Researcher at the University of Cape Town. She has been an active member of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC Cape Town) for the past 20 years. She has led and participated in solidarity campaigns and protest actions to build awareness of the struggle for freedom of the Palestinian people against the violent and illegal occupation and state repression of Zionist Israel. Her solidarity action underscores her belief that the struggle of the Palestinians is an anti-colonial struggle for justice; a struggle of reclaiming land, identity and statehood. Jaamia has also served as secretary on the Claremont Main Road Mosque (CMRM) Board since 2012 and has led social solidarity programmes for needy rural communities as part of the mosque’s Jihad Against Poverty programme and represents the mosque on the steering committee of the interfaith Newlands and Claremont History, Environmental Justice and Restitution Society (NCHERS).
