Project Coordinator International Support — Movies That Matter


Julie started working for Movies that Matter in 2015 and currently heads the International programme, providing support to human rights film festivals in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East with funds, training, workshops, network and advice. She also manages the Activist programme, one of the main competition programmes at the Movies that Matter Festival held annually in the Hague presenting documentaries about human rights defenders shedding light on their work and raising their profile. The invited protagonists are invited to the festival for a personal impact programme with meetings with media, NGO’s and politicians. MtM also runs the secretariat of the Human Rights Film Network, a partnership of more than 50 human rights film festivals worldwide. Prior she was partnership coordinator at MasterPeace, and communication and project officer at various other organisations. She obtained a BSc in Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies at Radboud University and a MA in Conflict Studies & Human Rights at Utrecht University.
