Dr Bongani Ndhlovu has a Ph.D in history from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. He is employed by Iziko Museums of South Africa as the Executive Director: Core Functions and has more two decades experience in the heritage sector. In this sector, he has worked, among others, for the KZN Museum Service as the researcher; Voortrekker Museum (now uMsunduzi Museum) as the Director; Ncome Museum as the Curator, Chief Curator and Manager; Transvaal Museum (now Ditsong Museum of Natural History) as Deputy Manager and for Ditsong Museum as CEO. He has served on boards of ICOM-SA, ICMAH, SAMA, Talana Museum, Tourism Dundee, Vryheid Tourism and Nquthu Tourism among others. His peer reviewed publications have appeared on a number of publications. Ndhlovu’s academic interest is history, heritage and auto/biographical narratives. His latest publications include two separate chapters he co-authored with Dr Solani and Ms Kotze in a book edited by S Ndlovu and A Hlongwane (Skotaville Publishing, 2021), Public history, heritage and culture in South Africa: The struggle continues.
