Enver Samuel of EMS Productions is an award-winning director and producer known for powerful storytelling and commitment to justice and mentorship. His latest project, Truth Be Told, is a documentary series exploring unresolved cases from South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The series highlights the lack of accountability for apartheid-era crimes and won the Simon Sabela Award for Best Short Documentary.

Enver’s earlier works include films about anti-apartheid activists Ahmed Timol and the assassination of Dulcie September, which sparked renewed calls for justice. Beyond filmmaking, Enver nurtures emerging talent through teaching, mentoring and serving on boards. He led a docSHARE masterclass on documentary funding and development, sharing his expertise with others. Through his creative work and mentorship, Enver shapes the South African documentary landscape, using film for truth-telling and transformation. His dedication to justice and mentorship inspires a new generation of filmmakers and is a Hub member of the African Transitional Justice Research Coalition.
