About the Film

After 37 years at Mac’s Drive-Thru in Gainesville, Florida, an ordinary shift becomes a final farewell as beloved worker Sighle Williams serves her last day behind the counter. At Mac’s, Sighle became a local legend, where fleeting exchanges at the drive-thru window stretched into familiarity, and customers were met as people rather than transactions. The film turns toward Sighle herself, where work, motherhood, and survival are not backstory but the conditions through which she has built her life and sense of self, marked by resilience, fearlessness, and pride. On her final day, regular customers and supporters arrive in waves to show their gratitude, as her boss surprises her with a retirement gift of the day’s earnings, shifting the space from commerce to community. As American workplace culture shifts toward automation and corporate exploitation, One Last Order honours an unsung everyday hero in a world where genuine human connection is increasingly rare.
